Positive Human Development (PHD)

In order for PHD Programs to be successful, community involvement is vital.  Teen leaders are needed to build positive peer leadership programs.  Adult volunteers are needed to work within their communities, both with teen peer groups and businesses who support the community's efforts in combating alcohol and other drug problems and promoting healthy lifestyles.

What is PHD?

PHD is an exciting drug and alcohol prevention program for inner-city African-American youth in Butler County.

Through the use of positive peer groups, curriculum and activities, the program is designed to help the community as well as individuals.  PHD encourages an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle for youth and their families.

PHD is designed for boys and girls ranging from 11-18 years of age.

Career Awareness: Encouraging participants to prepare for their future promotes the future of the community.

Holistic Health: The person is the primary concern rather than the disease or symptom.

Alcohol and Drug Awareness: Educating our youth to the dangers and pitfalls of use and abuse of alcohol and drugs allows for prevention in the community.
